Symbols of the U.S. from A-Z Posters

This is a project that I’ve been wanting to do for a while, but just finally got working on it.

This is a set of 5×7 posters that feature symbols of the United States.  There is one for each letter of the alphabet.  I did have to get creative with “X”, so please no negative feedback.  You can choose not to use it or replace it with something of your choice.

There are 4 sets of posters.  Included is one set each for Zaner-Bloser manuscript and cursive.  You’ll also find one set each for D’Nealian manuscript and cursive.  They can be identified by ZB or DN in the file name.  If it’s cursive, it’ll also include that in the file name.

Here’s a thumbnail view of the posters….

Images from internet sources and believed to be public domain.

If you’re interested in the posters, just….

I plan on having a set of flashcards similar to these in the next couple of days.  That way, in a smaller size, there will be more uses for them and they could also be used for games.

If you use any of my printables, have any requests, or just want to let me know how you used them, please leave a comment and let me know. I’d also appreciate it if you’d click the button below to vote for my blog. (You can vote ONCE a day!!) I also have a “contact” button in the right column.  I love feedback and I truly create by the input that I receive….thanks!!

Around the Pirate Ship

I have another pirate game for you, mateys!!

This one is Around the Pirate Ship and it’s a file folder game (ffg) for adding or subtracting to 10.  Players start on the space and then add or subtract to get the sum to finish the problem.  To do so, they’ll place an addition or subtraction sign in the black spot on the game board.  1 or more players can play and there’s optional treasure chest tokens to keep track of how many signs were placed correctly.

Here’s a thumbnail view of this pirate’s ffg….

ARG!! It’s a Pirate’s Treasure, Matey!!

I’m just so overwhelmed with lesson plans that I haven’t created nearly as much as I wanted to.  However, I took a break long enough today to have a little fun with these adorable pirates.

This is a set of 3-part cards.  The numeral on the pirate’s map is matched to that number of jewels and the number word on the treasure chest.  ARRGGGG!!  There’s a bounty to be had by all mateys!!

Here’s a thumbnail view of some of the pirate’s treasure….

Patriotic Calendar and Desk Sets

It’s almost time to go “back to school”, so this week, I’ll be creating and sharing things to use in the classroom (or at home) as we all head back in that direction.  Most will be calendar sets in a variety of color themes, but if time permits, I’ll also be making some other materials.

I call this first set patriotic because I used a red, white, and blue background.  It’s a great background with all the patriotic colors in a fun swirl.

The calendar set includes dates 1-31 with extras like “no school”, “birthday”, and a couple of others.  There’s also a set of numerals for 32-100 for those that use your calendars as a 100’s chart.  There’s also all 12 months of the year, as well as years from 2012 to 2017, so you can use this set for years to come!!  Finally, there’s a set of days to use on their own or use with the yesterday was, today is, and tomorrow will be cards.

In the desk set is a set of cubbie tags and desk plates.  Both include a blank for you to use as needed.  There’s also a 1-100 counting chart.  I also made a set of “home tags” which list several methods that the children go home.  These can be attached to the desk, used as a neck tag, or attached to the backpack.  Had my daughters teacher used these in 1st grade, I wouldn’t have had to be panicked when my daughter didn’t get off the bus!!  Finally, there’s some incentive sheets.  These are larger in size and can be used for behavior, reading, returning homework, or a number of other things.

Here’s a thumbnail view of what the calendar set looks like….

NOTE:  Some of these files are very large in size.  I apologize if they download slow.  I’m not sure why they’re so large when there’s no graphics and only a background.
