Farm Theme

We recently had a Challenge:  Farm in my group.  I created several printables for my members for that event and I also want to share those printables with you, my readers.  These are all for a variety of ages/grades, but mostly younger kids.

First is a set of alphabet flashcards with a barnyard theme.  I have to say that the image is much larger than the font and I did this to be able to get the scene in.  I don’t think it sways from the use of the flashcards though.  Next is a “pin the pocket on the farmer” game.  This is great for a fun class activity or a farm theme kid’s party!!  There’s also a set of basic puzzles featuring farm animals.  The puzzles range from 2 to 4 pieces.

A request was made to make a chicken and egg matching activity, so I did number matching for 0-25.  The egg has the number word and the chicken has the numeral on it and they’re matched to each other.  There’s also a “counting the farm” activity.  The number of items in the farm scene can be tallied, graphed, or used in a ten-frame.  The final printable is a farm animal match-up.  It includes a barn mat where the real animal image is matched to a cartoon image of the animal.  They can also be labeled or matched with the animal name.

Here’s a thumbnaial sample of each printable….

Water Miracles

clipart Jesus walks on water

Tonight, my lesson is on the miracles of Jesus.  I’m focusing on “Jesus Walks on Water” and “Jesus Calms the Storm”.  I had a few activities in my books to do with the kids.  I’m sure that they’ll like the variety.

These are just a few suggestions that I have to help enhance your lesson.  After we read the story, we did this page.  This is great for littles and has a lesson for one of these miracles.  I’m a huge fan of Rainbow Publishers and have the book that these crafts come from.  I was going to do one of them, until I came up with my own.

I wanted to do a special craft project with the kids though.  I decided to do something versatile and fun.  What I ended up making could be used with either miracle.  I’m sharing the project with you in hopes that you all can use and enjoy it.  I’ll be sure to let you know what my kids think of it too!!

What I plan on doing with the kids is to tear or cut shades of blue tissue paper.  We’ll glue them down to blue or gray construction paper.  While that dries, the kids will color the pieces of this craft (boat and Jesus) and cut them out.  We’ll then glue them on top of the sea waves (tissue paper).  With this printable, I’ve included some water waves that can be printed on cardstock if you don’t want to mess with cutting/tearing tissue paper and gluing it down.

Here’s a sample that I made to show the kids of how to assemble theirs tonight….

The clipart (boat, disciples and Jesus) was drawn by my husband, and I’m thankful for his talent to help me with my projects for the kids.  Please remember that no part of this may be shared, sent via e-mail, or uploaded to any site.  I’d appreciate if you’d link to this blog post….thank you!!
