It’s been an interesting procces, but I think the site update is complete!
I’ve worked and reworked many areas of the site. I hope that it helps you navigate the site easier and makes it accessible to find whatever you’re looking for. I also hope that it makes reading the blog simpler and even added ease in viewing the Shop.
The biggest change is probably how clean and streamlined the new look is. There’s less moving parts and clutter that I feel like were preventing you all from enjoying your time here. I’ve always wanted the site to look fresh and I think I managed that, as well as making it nice and modern.
The sidebar is cleaner and clearer with all the extras removed and making it easier as to what you’re clicking. There’s also a menu at the top and the bottom of the page now so that you can navigate the site between the blog, Shop, and other areas in a painless way!
I don’t want to bore you with all the details. I’m pretty happy though and I taught myself even more code. That always gets interesting! Take your time and browse around, take a look at the different areas of the site, and let me know what you think! If you find something not working properly or hard to use, please let me know so that I can fix it or find another method. Thanks for all your patience and I hope that you enjoy your time at The Treasured Schoolhouse even more!

Do you use incentives or rewards in your class or homeschool? There are several ways that you can reward kids for doing such as behavior, completing homework, memorizing verses, or other things.
In my religious education class (CCD), I use Bible Bucks. These come in the same amounts that our currency comes in, with a couple extras. Students can earn Bible Bucks for returning their folder to class each week, doing homework, and other such matters. Usually about every 3 weeks I let the kids shop in the Gospel Store.
Most of the items in the Gospel Store are things that I purchase at Wal-Mart or Dollar Tree. I try to find toys and items related to the Bible. I’ve had items like small stuffed animals such as a whle for Jonah and the Whale or Bible story books. I price the items for sale by size and the biggest is no more than 5 Bible Bucks and the smallest would be 1 Bible Buck. I store the pieces in containers that I get at Dollar Tree and tag each bin with the price of that the objects in that bin.
Oriental Trading also has lot of sets of small Chrisitan toys and novelties. These not only work great in the Gospel Store, but they’re also perfect for the Treasure Chest.
Incentives are a fantastic tool in the classroom or at home to reward the kids. It encourages them to keep working hard and to be responsible. It’s always fun to watch them shop in the Gospel Store and in my class, they love to keep up with how many Bible Bucks that they’ve saved.
If you’d like to use the Bible Bucks that I’ve made, please click the image below for more information or just add them to your cart. Only the bundle is shown below, but it’s a saving of 20% off the individual sets (color/bw)!

Hello my wonderful readers and followers! I know, I’ve been gone for awhile again. I’m probably one of the worst bloggers. I have good intentions and then life happens. The only thing that I now want to do is to TRY to blog more and give you all something to actually read. Summer is here, so I’m going to put my best foot forward in this challenge!

Once again this year, many clipartists are offering FREE clipart or other items for Teacher Appreciation Week. We couldn’t create the resources that we do without all the hard work from the artists for the wonderful clipart that they make. Their work is truly amazing!
Teachers are pretty amazing too, no matter where they teach and no matter if they’re in the classroom or at home (or another setting).
This is a free printable available at BitsyCreations. Alternate version here.
Below, you will find a list of the Teacher Appreciation FREEbies that are available. Some you can only get for a limited time and some will always be free. There is a variety of items, but most is clipart. They are showing their appreciation, so be sure to show yours as well by leaving these wonderful people some feedback!
Also, this is the first day, so I’ll be adding to this list. Many of these sellers also offer something each day of Teacher Appreciation week, so since today is only Monday, be sure to check back at their store to see if they’ve offered anything else.
I will continue to add to this list until the end of the week as I find new FREEbies available, so be sure to check back. You can also check out my post from last year, FREE Clipart for Teacher Appreciation Week, to find those resources that might still be available. If you know of anyone that is offering anything for Teacher Appreciation Week, please let me know because I’d be happy to add them to the list!

We just finished up our creation unit. I start them out with the days of creation and the next week, we go into how God made man and then rested. The following week, we do an “I am special” to go with God made me.
This year I’m used something that was new for me. I related it to Psalm 139:14, which states I am wonderfully made. This was so much fun and I loved having a verse that went along with the lesson. Here’s what we did….
We started by making our hand prints. I don’t know if they had more fun putting paint all over the hand or sprinkling glitter all over the hand print!
After they dried, we colored the frames around them and sent them home to share with their parents.
Next, we did a little writing practice by doing a tracing page. I read the Psalm to them as they traced the words.
Again, I read the entire Psalm to them, then I read it sentence by sentence and they filled in the missing words.
With that hard part done, we moved onto the easiest part and that was the coloring page.
I have to say that the kids really enjoyed all the activities. I’m so glad that I went this direction this year and I might just do it from now on! If you’re interest in this activity pack, please check it outhereor “add to cart” here….
Thank you for your help and support for “The Treasured Schoolhouse”. I receive a small commission for purchases from clicks and I put that money into site maintenance and such. Thank you!
