It’s Time for Back to School….and a Sale

Yes, I’ve been away all summer, but I’m back!  I’m not only back, but it’s time for back to school and a sale.  Can you believe how fast time is going?  It seems like summer just started and here we go again!

FREEbies for Teacher Appreciation

As with previous years, many clipartists are offering FREEbies for Teacher Appreciation Week.  It’s just their way of saying “Thank You” for all that you do.  I really feel like they deserve the “Thank You”….and most of them are teachers as well.  There’s so many great clipartist out there and sometimes they just don’t get enough recognition. Goodness knows that I couldn’t do a lot of what I do without their hard work and talent.

Taking Longer Than Expected

I just thought that I would pop on with a quick message to update you all about what’s going on.

Well, basically it’s nothing!  Updating my site after moving to a new host is taking way longer than expected.  Really most of it is done, but I haven’t been able to get all my images uploaded.  I’ve just had so much going on that I’ve had little time to devote to adding the images.  On top of that, it’s very time consuming to try to find all the missing images.

I truly appreciate you all being so patient and sticking by even though you rarely hear from me.  I couldn’t ask for better followers!  I’ll be coming up with something for you all soon so that I can say “thank you” in a proper way.  In the meantime, I’m honestly doing my best, but you know how life can be.

Take care and I hope that you’re having as beautiful of a Spring as we are here!

Site Maintenance

I don’t know how much you’ve been paying attention to The Treasured Schoolhouse, but it was down for a bit.  My contract was up with my host, so I transferred to a new one.  In the process, I lost everything!

With the help of my new host, we’ve managed to restore just about everything.  There are still many gaps in the site that I’m working on little by little.  If you notice things amiss, fear not, we’re in maintenance mode!  You may find downloads not working or images that aren’t visible….or other glitches like that.  Hopefully they’ll all be back to normal soon.  Please remember though that if a post/download is marked as “expired” it can be found in my shop or stores.  If a post/download is marked as “discontinued” it is no longer available.

Where the most work needs to be done is with orders that customers have made from the Shop.  The orders are there, but the downloads are missing.  This is at the top of my list to get fixed.  If you have any issues, please contact me and I’ll get to work on it immediately.  Also, the “Subscribers Only” page is down.  That is also a top priority to get the site up and properly running.

I do appreciate everyone’s patience through this.  I don’t have a timeline for completion, but I’m working hard and doing it on my own.  For most of you, this really isn’t going to change things at all.  For others, you may see glitches here or there, but we should be in good form and ready to go!

Recover a Lost Blog Post

Have you ever done a blog post and then lost it?  There’s number reasons why one might lose their blog post.  I just had it happen to me recently and the reason why was because I had to do a restore of my blog.  That’s fine in itself, but I went back further than that particular blog post date.

Here are a couple tips in case you ever need to recover a blog post:

Post Revisions

The first method is to check your post revisions.  If your blog post is there, you should be able to go back and look at the revisions.  Select the revision that you want and save your blog post.

RSS Feed

Check your RSS feed to see if it’s saved there.  You could find the whole post, which you could copy/paste into a “new” post.  Save it at the original post date and time.  When I lost my post I tried this, but all my feeds (Bloglovin’, RSS Reader, and another one) only had excerpts of my post.

Newsletter

Do you send a newsletter to your subscribers?  If so and it contains your blog posts, you just might be in luck.  You can copy/paste it from there, then save it with the original time and date.  Unfortunately for me, my newsletter is set-up with my RSS feed but it only shares excerpts in the newsletter.

Archive

Check out a site like the Wayback Machine  to see if your blog or post is archived there.  Unless you have a popular blog, you likely won’t find it here.

Cache

This was my last resort and what finally worked!  If you know the URL of your lost blog post, type it into the Google search.  Click on the drop arrow and select “cached”.  If it was saved, hopefully you’ll find it here.  I found my complete post, so I did a copy/paste into a new blog post.  I then dated it to the original time and date and saved.  

I hope that you never “lose” a blog post, but if you do, maybe this will help!  Most of these procedures can also work on lost blog or site pages as well.

Advent: New and Revised

Are you ready for Advent? Tomorrow is the first Sunday of Advent for 2018. If you haven’t yet prepared your lesson or activities, I might be able to help!

Advent candles - hope peace joy love

First, I’ve updated my 2 previous Advent Activity Packs.  I’ve revised them so that all the color purple is now violet and pink is now rose.  It’s a fairly minor change, but I wanted them to be modernized with the colors that we now call them and they’re the same through all the resources now.

I’ve created a new Advent Activity Pack for this year.  It’s the 3rd installment!  This one has a “My Advent Reflections” book that the kids or even adults can note their reflections for each Sunday or week of Advent.  There are 2 to write on with differenciated lines for various ages/grades.  There is also one to draw on.  It also includes a worksheet and 5 puzzles….and they all have an answer key!  

This pack is also comprised of 22 word wall cards and 2 blank for you to add words of your own.  Some of the ways to use these cards are to just display them during a lesson, write sentences using the words, write the room, and many other uses.  A few of the words included are coming, hope, liturgical year, Advent, rose, and more!
