Hello all!!

I know it’s been forever since I’ve done a blog post.  I feel horrible because when I get busy, this is the first thing that seems to fall aside for me.  I can’t tell you how much I appreciate all of you for sticking by me and The Treasured Schoolhouse.  You are the BEST and I know it!!

This is just basically going to be an update as to what’s going on and what you can expect to be happening around here.  First I’m starting with updating all the freebies that are on the blog.  Many of them haven’t been available for quite some time for various reasons.  I’m going to update them and make them usable again.  I’m not going to work on them in any certain order, but I hope to get to all of them in somewhat of a timely manner.  The exception will be those that are Seuss, Disney, and other characters like those.  I’ve learned a lot over time and I fully understand now that those are in violation and won’t ever be available again.  They were also the first I deactivated when I found out how serious of an issue it is.  We all learn and grow….or we should!!

Next up is The Treasured Schoolhouse Shop.  I’m still getting random orders despite there being no photos or real store front.  I want to work on getting those images back up and make the resources fully available.  The good thing is that other than the “Exclusive” materials, everything can be purchased on the other marketplaces where I sell my resources.

The “Subscriber Only” page will be getting some additions as well.  I’m thinking that this will be a slow process as I really want to get the blog freebies updated.  It’s hard to work on new and old at the same time.  However, there will be some new materials coming to that page and hopefully soon as I truly appreciate all of you who have subscribed and joined my mailing list.

I think that about covers everything.  It’s going to be a long process, but it WILL happen.  If there’s anything that you’ve been wanting and it’s not available, please let me know and I’ll work on those first.  See you next time!!

Recover a Lost Blog Post

Have you ever done a blog post and then lost it?  There’s number reasons why one might lose their blog post.  I just had it happen to me recently and the reason why was because I had to do a restore of my blog.  That’s fine in itself, but I went back further than that particular blog post date.

Here are a couple tips in case you ever need to recover a blog post:

Post Revisions

The first method is to check your post revisions.  If your blog post is there, you should be able to go back and look at the revisions.  Select the revision that you want and save your blog post.

RSS Feed

Check your RSS feed to see if it’s saved there.  You could find the whole post, which you could copy/paste into a “new” post.  Save it at the original post date and time.  When I lost my post I tried this, but all my feeds (Bloglovin’, RSS Reader, and another one) only had excerpts of my post.

Newsletter

Do you send a newsletter to your subscribers?  If so and it contains your blog posts, you just might be in luck.  You can copy/paste it from there, then save it with the original time and date.  Unfortunately for me, my newsletter is set-up with my RSS feed but it only shares excerpts in the newsletter.

Archive

Check out a site like the Wayback Machine  to see if your blog or post is archived there.  Unless you have a popular blog, you likely won’t find it here.

Cache

This was my last resort and what finally worked!  If you know the URL of your lost blog post, type it into the Google search.  Click on the drop arrow and select “cached”.  If it was saved, hopefully you’ll find it here.  I found my complete post, so I did a copy/paste into a new blog post.  I then dated it to the original time and date and saved.  

I hope that you never “lose” a blog post, but if you do, maybe this will help!  Most of these procedures can also work on lost blog or site pages as well.

God Made Me….

Last week, my class and my daughter’s class worked on a lesson for creation.  She did a cut and paste worksheet that I made.  Here are some pictures of her kids working on the page and enjoying it!

It is read like God gave me ears to listen to his creation and God gave me a heart to love his creation.  So this page covers the 5 senses as used in creation and makes learning about it fun!

5 Finger Prayer for Subscribers

I know that it’s been awhile, but I have a “Subscriber ONLY” printable that I just uploaded and I’m excited about it. If you don’t already subscribe to the newsletter, you can do so in the right hand column. I don’t like spam either, so you’ll only receive a newsletter when there’s a new blog post.  Each newsletter has the current password to the “For Subscribers” page.   You also have the option to get the additional newsletter when I post new items in the Shop.

This printable is Pope Francis’ 5 Finger Prayer Poster and Worksheet Pack.  It includes 1 poster in color and the on the reverse side, you can print the meaning of the prayer fingers in English or Spanish.  In addition to that, there’s a page that can be used as a poster or print multiple on a page to attach to desk as a reminder.  

Finally, there are 3 worksheets.  These worksheets include cut and paste, label, and matching.  They’ll work for a variety of ages/grades to teach, review, or anything to suit your needs for Pope Francis’ 5 Finger Prayer.

I hope that all subscribers like this freebie, but more so that the kids enjoy it!!

Behind the Scenes and Changes

I wanted to give everyone an update on what’s happening around The Treasured Schoolhouse.  I know I keep disappearing, but there’s a lot happening behind the scenes.  Well, and then there’s just life!!

I’ve been trying to make some changes around here that would be good for you and for me.  I want things to be easy for you all to access and for me to make it available to you.  I love being able to get my materials out there and I’ve been feeling a bit restricted in doing that.

First and foremost, I’ve been getting resources uploaded to my Shop.  I’m finally at 50+ items.  I still have a long way to go, but there’s finally a variety in there and now it can continue to grow.  If you haven’t done so yet, please click here to check out the Shop.  Remember, I take requests so if there’s anything that you need, just let me know.

I’ve set up an affiliate program for the Shop.  If you have a blog or site, you can earn money by linking to my Shop.  If you’re interested, just click on the “Shop Affiliates” tab to learn more.  In short, if you link to my shop by posting a text link, logo, or banner on your blog or site, you can earn 25% from every sale made from people clicking on it (if they make a purchase).  What a way to make a little extra money!!  This tab may eventually move, but it’ll always be available, so just look in the page menu for it if you don’t see it immediately.

I’m also trying to trim line the blog a little bit.  I was starting to feel it was cluttered and hard to navigate.  I’ve gotten rid of several things and moved a couple others.  I will continue to work on this so that it’s easier for you to find your way around The Treasured Schoolhouse. 

I haven’t forgotten about the Subscriber Freebie either.  I just completed it, although it felt like I was never going to get done.  Although I’d love to give you one a month, I know that’s just not going to be possible.  I will offer as many as I can though.  So, keep an eye out for the new Subscriber Freebie to be posted.  Remember, the only way that you can get access to this is by subscribing to the newsletter.  It only comes out when there’s a new blog post, so you won’t be receiving a ton of e-mails!!

Another thing that I’ve done is gone through and made notes of items that were listed in blog posts and added an “Add to Cart” button if it’s listed in the Shop.  If it’s not in the Shop yet, I made a note for myself and added it to my “to do” list to fix up the resource and try to get it listed in the Shop.  That way, you’ll no longer have to look around for those materials.

I’m also trying to work on my social media game.  If you don’t follow The Treasured Schoolhouse on social media, you should!!  I try to fit in a little personal, along with a little work.  I also am working on offering a freebie here or there for followers on social media and that will be the only way to get it….and it’ll be for a limited time.  All my social media icons are in the right hand column, so follow me on one….or all of them….or just your favorite!!

So as you can tell, there has been quite a bit going on behind the scenes.  Not all of it is visible, but it’s a growing process.  I hope that all these changes are things that you will enjoy as you read my blog and visit the Shop.  We can grow and change together!!

Exclusive for Followers

I’m going to be rewarding my newsletter followers with exclusive freebies just for them!! This is something that I’ve wanted to do for awhile and I’ve finally gotten ready to implement it, so I’m really excited to tell you all about how to get exclusive freebies.

The best way to keep up with The Treasured Schoolhouse is to sign-up for the newsletter.  That way, you’ll know every time I post to my blog.  You won’t be spammed or anything else.  You’ll just simply receive an excerpt of the post and you can click on the link to come back to the blog to finish reading it.  Best of all, you only receive the newsletter when I post something….and not for anything else!!

So now onto the exclusive offer for followers of the newsletter.  YAY!!  If you sign-up to receive the newsletter to The Treasured Schoolhouse, you’ll receive a password the next time I post to a freebie.  To access the freebie, you’ll be able to click on the link in the newsletter or you can come here to the blog and click on the “For Subscribers” tab.  You’ll have to input the password, which will give you access to any freebies that are on the page.  Sometimes they will be forever free and sometimes they’ll be free for a certain amount of time.

Newsletter

I know I haven’t posted in awhile, but I promise that I have several free printables coming your way.  They just need tweaks done to them.  Then you’ll be able to have access to my latest printables!!

MC_MonkeyReward_05I want to let all my readers, and especially my followers (by e-mail) know that I’ve changed clients.  If you currently follow me via e-mail, you’ll have to re-sign up to get my newsletter.  I’m no longer using the one that comes with WordPress and have switched over to MailChimp.  

I’m sorry for any inconvenience that this might cause.  However, it’s my hope that this will make it easier for everyone to keep up.  The new newsletter is set to be released every evening at 6pm on any day that there’s a new post.  I was going to go for a weekly newsletter, but I figured that I don’t post that often, so daily (or whenever I post) will work for everyone.  Also, the newsletter will just be a snippet view, so you’ll have to click on the article to read it in full.
