Seuss-icle Followers Contest

I’m having a Seuss-icle Followers Contest here on The Schoolhouse starting 25 February!!  Please read on to learn how you can enter and win a great prize on 3 March!!

I’m trying very hard to get back into creating new educational and Christian printables and blogging about them to get them out there to the kids.  The only way I can do that is to reach the parents, teachers, daycare providers, and those that work with or spend time with the children.  To do this, I’m holding a special contest right here on The Schoolhouse to boost my followers!!

My goals are simple…..

  • I’d like to reach 50 followers on my blog and I currently have 28.
  • I’d like to reach 30 followers on my Facebook page and I currently have 13.

How can you help….and win??  That’s the easy part!!  To enter the contest from 25 February to 3 March, just choose one or all of these possible entries….

  • Talk about my contest on your blog and/or Facebook page, then leave me a comment HERE about each way you got the word out.  This can be up to 2 entries!!
  • If you don’t currently follow my blog and/or Facebook page, start following (via feed or e-mail) me and leave me a comment HERE letting me know how you are now following me.  (If you currently follow me, you qualify too….just comment and let me know!!)  This can be up to 2 entries!!
  • Pin my contest to one of your Pinterest boards and leave me a comment HERE letting me know you’ve done this.  This is 1 entry!!
  • Tweet about the contest on Twitter and leave a comment HERE letting me know that you tweeted.  This is 1 entry!!
  • Refer someone to follow me on my blog and/or Facebook page and have them leave me a comment HERE.  This is up to 2 entries….and the person you refer is then entered as well!!

That’s up to 8 chances for you to enter your name into the drawing to win the prize!!  You can find the “like” button to my Facebook page in the column on the right.  What’s the prize you ask??  Well, it’s a $10 gift certificate to Teachers Pay Teachers and ONE name will be drawn from the comments (which I’ll number) and let Random.org choose.  I’ll announce the winner at 8pm (CST) on 3 March.

I should add that everyday, or at least to the best of my abilities, I’ll be offering at least one Dr. Seuss themed printable.  Some will be “old”, but there’s many that haven’t seen them and many will be newly created materials.  So please, be sure to check back often to see what I’m sharing!!

Now’s the time….please grab, pin, post, or share the button below and help me get my printables out there to the kids…..and get entered for your chance to win that prize!!

Copy this code to add to your blog or site…..

Sharing the Love

I know, my posting is few and far between.  Since my surgery, I’m just so much more active and don’t spend the time at the computer that I used to.  Plus with the GigaTribe mess, I just didn’t feel like sharing, much less creating new materials.  I gotta admit that I miss it just a bit though!!

Today, I have a folder of Valentine’s Day printables.  Most of these were made last year.  Some of you might have them, or they might be new to many of you.  Either way, it’s a great set of 9 fun activities for the kids!!

First up is my oldest one in the batch.  It’s Valentine Stamp Pattern worksheets and there’s about 3 pages of pretty stamps to complete the pattern on.  Next is A Heart of Many Colors and it’s a set of 2-part cards for color matching.  Then, I have The Shapes of Love 2-part cards for matching the shape to the shape word.

There’s 2 sets of clothespin cards.  One is Have a Heart and that’s for counting numbers 0-20 and Sweetness & Love is for matching upper case to lower case letters.  I also have a set of Have a Heart mirror cards to work on symmetry and just fun play with a mirror!!

A Time for Love is a set of 2-part cards for telling time.  They are for 5 minute times.  There’s a flipbook called Count on Love for matching the number of objects, the numeral, and the number word from 0-20.  Finally, there’s The Price of Being Love Birds which is a set of 2-part cards for money values.  It’s matching the value of a Valentine’s gift to the correct amount in coins.

Update

I wanted to give everyone a quick update because I know it’s been forever since I’ve posted anything here.  I’m 2 weeks post-op now and doing great.  I’m taking the full time that I need and happy with the way things are working out.  I’m really excited to be a healthier me!!

I haven’t created anything new at all.  I hope to soon, but just don’t know.  My props have been knocked out from under me with my name being slandered on GigaTribe and still finding my free printables there.  I’ve asked for them to be removed so many times and it’s like a broken record.  Unfortunately, these educators (teachers and homeschool parents) feel that they’re entitled and have literally said that.  They don’t think that they have to follow the rules and can share whatever they want with whoever they want.

They just don’t get the kind of damage that it’s all caused.  Then again, they don’t care.  So right now, my focus is on me because when I do come back, I’ll be 100%!!  Please be continue to be patient and continue to follow along.  It’s my amazing readers and followers like you….and my fantastic group members….that are the reason why I’ll get through this and find my way back to creating again.

Thanks for all the well-wishes and support.  I’ll keep in contact and God willing, I’ll be creating again soon!!

New Year …. New Direction

I want to wish all my readers, followers, and those who use my printables, a very HAPPY NEW YEAR!!  I hope that you have a blessed 2012.

With a new year comes new directions and some changes.  This is so true for me!!  It’s also true for my blog and the things that I create.  I will still continue to create and share my educational and Christian printables, but I’m adding to my portfolio.  I’m going to start to create printables for the home, party supplies, gifts, and items like those.  I feel that it’s time for my to broaden my horizons.  I don’t think that any of you will be disappointed by what I share and I think it will bring in a wider range of viewers to my blog.

My first new offering for the new year is a set of checkbook cover art.  This is a set of 4 different ones.  The checkbook cover art are inserted inside the clear plastic covers.  I’ve had one of these covers for years and my insert if wearing out and I’ve often wanted to change it out.  I measured them for the clear cover that I have, but some might vary slightly in size even though they’re pretty standard in size.  In that instance, I’d just trim off the borders to help them fit better.

Who Is Watching Baby Jesus?

Today is the 20th and final posting of Nativity A Day.  It looks like I missed 3 posting, but I might not be finished for today yet!!  I really enjoyed this challenge, and I hope that you did too.

My offering for today is Who Is Watching Baby Jesus? and it’s played like Who Took the Cookie? and Who Stole Santa’s Elf? that I posted after Thanksgiving.  Players are dealt cards face down and flip one at a time over.  If the player doesn’t have baby Jesus, they say “NOT ME” and play continues on in this manner, one player at a time.  If they do flip over baby Jesus, then they say “IT’S ME” and the game ends.  In this case, the one “watching” baby Jesus is the winner!!  This also includes the box to store the cards in.

The Nativity Cards & Box

So it’s finally back to The Schoolhouse with Nativity A Day.  This is the 17th posting and there’s only 3 more to go in addition to this one.  That means that I missed 3 postings!!  What do you think of that??  Do you think that I completed my personal challenge??

Today I have a set of nativity cards to offer.  These are large cards and can be used a number of ways.  If you only print one set, you could use them for flashcards, sequencing, or retelling the story of the nativity.  If you print 2 copies, they could be used for “Go Fish”, concentration/memory, or “Old Maid” (but don’t forget to pull one card so you have an odd one).  They could be used for so much more too!!  It also includes a storage box to keep them in.

The Nativity Dominoes

Nativity A Day and it’s 13th posting brings us a set of nativity dominoes.  This is a large set!!  They’re a size that should be good for small hands to play with….and big ones too.  There’s also a storage box to hold the set of dominoes.

There’s so many activities that can be done with dominoes, so I hope that these will help you find something fun for the kids to do or a nice family night Christmas game!!

Nativty UNO

Today is the 7th installment of Nativity A Day here on my blogs.  I hope that you’re enjoying it as much as I am!!

First of all, I have to confess that today’s freebie is NOT a new creation, but one that I made last year.  I completely love this game though and it’s definitely worth the re-share.  I’m busy today with making plans for my religion class, so I thought today would be the perfect day to update this game and re-share for those that have it and get it out there to those that don’t have it!!

Today’s Nativity A Day freebie is Nativity UNO!!  Our family loves UNO and ever since I made this set, we play this version often.  There’s not much to say about it except that it’s played like the UNO card game, but this one features adorable nativity figures.  It includes a storage box, all the cards needed to play, as well as directions and how to score.  I do recommend printing on card stock and laminating or using clear shelf liner (found at Wal-Mart, dollar stores, etc. in the kitchenware’s area).

Gingerbread Man Math Mat

I’m back today with another FREEBIE offering for Christmas!!  Yes, I’m on a roll.  I don’t know what happened, but I’m glad it happened.  HAHA  I had such a dry spell and now I’m ready to go and have plenty of ideas….now I just need the time!!

Today, I have some adorable gingers to offer in the form of a math mat!!  This mat can be used for addition, subtraction, greater than, equal to, and less than.  All that has to be done is to put the proper symbol on the mat, then add the gingerbread man tokens to each cookie sheet.  Just like that, a math problem/equation is made!!

Also, there’s 2 worksheets to accompany the math mat.  They can be used with the math mat or on their own.  There’s one worksheet for addition-subtraction and the other one is for greater-less than-equal to.

Waiting on Christmas

Are you ready for Christmas??  More than likely, the kids are!!  This is the perfect game to keep them busy while they wait for Christmas to get here.

Waiting on Christmas is a family game that will keep the kids busy at night or on weekends.  It could also be used in the classroom when work is completed or altered with the blank cards for a specific skill.

Players work their way around the board by rolling the die that’s provided.  Along the way, they may land on a present that could help….or hinder….them after they draw a card, read it aloud, and follow the directions on the card.  There are blank cards provided, so a skill could be added for practice during class.  Everything but the player tokens is provided with this file folder game.

Oh, and there’s a special area on the game board where the kids can write in how many days until Christmas with a dry erase marker (if the board is laminated or covered in clear contact paper/shelf liner).
