Hear My Prayer

This past week in class, we worked on learning about prayer. It’s always such an interesting topic for my kids.

So often, they think that they can only pray kneeling.  They also think that you have to be silent when you pray.  They love finding out that they can stand up against a tree in the park and thank God for his amazing creation!!

To help them learn more about prayer, I created this prompt for them to draw their prayer….

I also have a big set of these prompts available in my stores.  There’s a total of 16 pages and it’s a great deal at $3.  It’s great for a variety of ages/grades as there’s prompts to write, draw, or do both!!  You can find this full set at…..

I Am Special Activity

Last year, I did a really fun activity with my kids. They loved it then and they really loved it again this year. So, I just had to share!!

In the big open space, they draw a picture of themselves. They need to see what makes them special like the color of their hair, skin, eyes, and so on. Of course, they’re little ones, so they’re far from perfect, but they sure are fun!!

There’s also an area to put stickers down with their name on them or glue letters down. There’s also a blank line for them to write their names. On the side, there’s a cute poem about being unique. Finally, on the side, they can also put their fingerprint under the magnifying glass. Why??  Because each of us has a fingerprint that is unique to only us!!  To do this part, we just used an ink pad.

If you’re interested in this activity page, just click to….

Here are some photos my kids in action with this page this year.  You’ll notice that I forgot my stickers at home, so we made due and used letter beads!!

If you use this page, please leave a comment and let me know if your kids enjoyed it as much as mine did!!

Creation Story Wheel

I’ve been pretty busy lately. I’ve been uploading several resources to my store. I’ve also just been participating in life!! It’s been awhile since I’ve offered any freebies, but now’s my chance.

We’re back to religious education as of last week. It was hectic, so I really didn’t have anything to share. This week however, we’re learning about creation. This is the project that I’m working on with my little ones….

This story wheel is actually 2 wheels under one cover “wheel”. The first is to select the day of creation and the second is to identify what was created on that day. This project is perfect for learning or reviewing the days of creation.

I’ll be listed this for free at The Treasured Schoolhouse on TPT. If you’re interested in using this project for your class, just click to be taken to the….

NOTE: By clicking this link, you will be taken to “The Treasured Schoolhouse” store on TPT to download this FREEbie

I posted photos of my kids making this in class. I shared photos on Instagram of my kids in action….or the finished project. If you’d like to see them, please click here to be taken to Instagram.

Please don’t forget to leave some feedback if you download…..thanks!!

40 Days of Lent

I know this is rather last minute, but I have a free printable for you to use at home or in your classroom for Lent.

I’m calling this a color-by-number, but it’s not really that.  LOL  Once space is colored in for each day of Lent.  Certain spaces are specific colors.  When completed at the end of Lent, it’ll be a picture that represents Lent/Easter.  There is a key so that you know what color each space should be colored.

If you’re interested in downloading this, please just click the cover image above!!

Ash Wednesday Fun and Learning

Last night’s lesson was all about Ash Wednesday and how it’s the first day of Lent.  Advent and Lent are always interesting concepts to teach the kids when it’s all about “waiting” and “preparing”.  At their age, they’re just ready for Santa and the Easter Bunny.  They soak up the information like sponges!!

Ash Wednesday Craftivity cover

After our discussion about Lent, we focused on Ash Wednesday and did this activity page.  Since we attend mass as part of class on Ash Wednesday, it’s important the kids know all about the ashes so they know what to expect.  After that, we practiced for mass….several times!!  Our final activity was a little craft that I made for the kids.  They colored the pictures to look like themselves and then we took black paint and put a cross on the foreheads with their thumb.

If you’re interested in this, just click to….

To see the a few of the final projects, just click here and click here to see how my class did them on Instagram.  You don’t have to have an account and it’s worth it because they’re just adorable for being 3-5 years old!!

The Good Shepherd

Last week, we worked on The Good Shepherd in my religion class.  I enjoy teaching this one to the kids to help them understand how loved we are.  We are protected by his love and his son, Jesus, died for us.

GoodShepherdSheepMatch worksheet&coloringpage byElaineG SAMPLE

I made 2 things for my class to use.  The first is a worksheet.  It’s to match Jesus and his sheep to a sheep on the page.  A line is drawn to match the 2 and then colored to match each other.  The next item is a coloring page.  It’s Jesus among the sheep with the verse from John 10:11 (NAS).

All the Saints in Heaven

I meant to get this posted last night, but time just slipped right away.  There’s still plenty of time to use it though on Hallow’s Eve or on All Saints Day!!

AllSaintsHeavenWithJesus papercraft byElaineG SAMPLE

I have to say that this paper craft was a huge hit with my kids!!  They simply colored the 2 clouds, then they each picked out 4 saints to color.  The clouds are slightly overlapped and glued together and then the saints glued to the large cloud.  After that, we decorated them with cotton puffs and glitter!!

There’s a sample on my Instagram if you click here.  You’ll notice that the sample, we glued to a piece of construction paper.  If you don’t glue on construction paper, print the clouds on cardstock and the saints on regular paper.

If you’re interested in this craft, click here to….

This idea originated from 3 ideas that I found on the internet.  Credit is given for each of them in the document.

Baptism of Jesus

We’ve been having class for a couple of weeks now, but this is the first real craft that I’ve made for the kids.  I have to say that they loved it!!

BaptismOfJesus craft byElaine1 SAMPLE

This is a simple paper craft.  Once completed, the kids can put Jesus in the Jordan River with John the Baptist, dip him in the water, and baptize him.  This project does need adult supervision to cut the slit in the river.  There are complete directions and supply list included, along with the patterns.

If you’re interested in the paper craft, just click to….

You can find a picture of our finished project on Instagram here, here, and here.  Notice that we didn’t glue it on construction paper, which I really wanted to do.  I do recommend that you do it that way, as is given in the directions.
