A New Subscriber FREEbie

I know that it’s been forever and I appreciate all of you that continue to support and follow The Treasured Schoolhouse.  I don’t know why, but no matter how hard I try, I can’t seem to keep up with my blog.  Actually, I don’t seem to be good at much on social media!

This year, I’m teaching my religion class via ZOOM.  It’s been interesting to say the least.  Since I have Kindergarten, I’m sending packets home to the parents for the students to work on.  It’s gone pretty well so far.  I do have a couple kids that have never shown up.  It has been a challenge to get the copies run and in the mail on time for the classes though, so I decided that I was going to do one huge pack for the rest of the year!  I was a couple lesson short, so I decided I’d create something for them to do.

The Lost Sheep Worksheet & Coloring Pack cover with Jesus and sheep

What I came up with what the parable of The Lost Sheep.  I made everything that I’ll need for class.  The best part, I’m sharing it with my newsletter subscribers ONLY!  All verses in the pack are based on New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (NRSVCE) of the Bible.  This pack includes:

  • Word Search
  • Maze
  • Copywork for Matthew 18:10 and Luke 15:7 to print and trace
  • Coloring Pages for Matthew 18:12-13 and Luke 15:5-6
  • Answer Keys for Word Search and Maze

If you’d like to get this pack, you can go to the Home page or the right sidebar to subscribe to my newsletter.  You’ll receive the password in the confirmation e-mail, so please be sure to confirm in order to have access to the Subscriber Only page!

Thanks again for following along, no matter how much or low little it is.  I appreciate you more than you know!

5 Finger Prayer for Subscribers

I know that it’s been awhile, but I have a “Subscriber ONLY” printable that I just uploaded and I’m excited about it. If you don’t already subscribe to the newsletter, you can do so in the right hand column. I don’t like spam either, so you’ll only receive a newsletter when there’s a new blog post.  Each newsletter has the current password to the “For Subscribers” page.   You also have the option to get the additional newsletter when I post new items in the Shop.

This printable is Pope Francis’ 5 Finger Prayer Poster and Worksheet Pack.  It includes 1 poster in color and the on the reverse side, you can print the meaning of the prayer fingers in English or Spanish.  In addition to that, there’s a page that can be used as a poster or print multiple on a page to attach to desk as a reminder.

Finally, there are 3 worksheets.  These worksheets include cut and paste, label, and matching.  They’ll work for a variety of ages/grades to teach, review, or anything to suit your needs for Pope Francis’ 5 Finger Prayer.

I hope that all subscribers like this freebie, but more so that the kids enjoy it!!

Creation

Last night was the first night back to class. I was excited to meet my new kiddos and get back to religious education.

I always start with creation because well, that’s where we  started.  So much time is spent on rules, what’s expected, homework, prayers, and so on, that the lesson needs to be fairly simple.  I break creation down over a couple of lessons and classes.  Yesterday, I read the story of creation to them from the Bible.  I stop after each day to review what was created that day.

Then, we did a cut & paste worksheet that I made for class.  It’s a mat that has each day and what was created on it.  So they start off by coloring what was created each day.

Lots of colors and no scribbling!

Next, we cut out all the different days.

Good scissors skills!

Then, we glued them onto the mat and placed them in their boxes.

We love our glue sponges!
Glue them into their proper days!

Here’s the final project!!

So happy with our first project!

The kids had a blast!!  I have a freebie for you, so that your kids can have a blast as well.  If you click on the image below, you can download the simple color version of this project.  I hope that the kids enjoy!!

Also, this project is available for purchase in my shop.  It’s available in color and black & white, plus it has a little bit “fancier” borders on the mat.  If you’re interested in purchasing this creation activity worksheet, please just click here to view this exclusive item or just click below to add it to your cart.

NOTE:  This is the Catholic version based on the New American Standard (Revised Edition).  This is the Bible that I use in my classroom….

I Am Special Activity

Last year, I did a really fun activity with my kids. They loved it then and they really loved it again this year. So, I just had to share!!

In the big open space, they draw a picture of themselves. They need to see what makes them special like the color of their hair, skin, eyes, and so on. Of course, they’re little ones, so they’re far from perfect, but they sure are fun!!

There’s also an area to put stickers down with their name on them or glue letters down. There’s also a blank line for them to write their names. On the side, there’s a cute poem about being unique. Finally, on the side, they can also put their fingerprint under the magnifying glass. Why??  Because each of us has a fingerprint that is unique to only us!!  To do this part, we just used an ink pad.

If you’re interested in this activity page, just click to….

Here are some photos my kids in action with this page this year.  You’ll notice that I forgot my stickers at home, so we made due and used letter beads!!

If you use this page, please leave a comment and let me know if your kids enjoyed it as much as mine did!!

40 Days of Lent

I know this is rather last minute, but I have a free printable for you to use at home or in your classroom for Lent.

I’m calling this a color-by-number, but it’s not really that.  LOL  Once space is colored in for each day of Lent.  Certain spaces are specific colors.  When completed at the end of Lent, it’ll be a picture that represents Lent/Easter.  There is a key so that you know what color each space should be colored.

If you’re interested in downloading this, please just click the cover image above!!

All the Saints in Heaven

I meant to get this posted last night, but time just slipped right away.  There’s still plenty of time to use it though on Hallow’s Eve or on All Saints Day!!

AllSaintsHeavenWithJesus papercraft byElaineG SAMPLE

I have to say that this paper craft was a huge hit with my kids!!  They simply colored the 2 clouds, then they each picked out 4 saints to color.  The clouds are slightly overlapped and glued together and then the saints glued to the large cloud.  After that, we decorated them with cotton puffs and glitter!!

There’s a sample on my Instagram if you click here.  You’ll notice that the sample, we glued to a piece of construction paper.  If you don’t glue on construction paper, print the clouds on cardstock and the saints on regular paper.

If you’re interested in this craft, click here to….

This idea originated from 3 ideas that I found on the internet.  Credit is given for each of them in the document.
